Twitter Erupts As Rajat Patidar Becomes First Uncapped Indian To Smash A Century In IPL Playoffs

The 28-year-old Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batter Rajat Patidar played an outstanding knock in the crucial IPL 2022 Eliminator against KL Rahul-led Lucknow Super (LSG) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Wednesday, May 25.

The Madhya Pradesh batter Patidar, who had previously represented Royal Challengers Bangalore in several IPL seasons, was initially not part of the Faf du Plessis-led side in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.

In an official statement released by the Indian Premier League (IPL) on April 3, it was announced that the Madhya Pradesh cricketer Rajat Patidar would be joining Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for the price of INR 20 lakh as a replacement for the injured Luvnith Syodia for the remainder of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.

Since joining the Royal Challengers Bangalore, the 28-year-old batted brilliantly and he had delivered a couple of great performances in the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) before today’s game against Lucknow Super Giants.

Rajat Patidar had smashed brilliant 52 runs against Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai and he also scored a good 48 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Other than these knocks he had also made some small yet crucial contributions.

Meanwhile, Rajat Patidar batted brilliantly against all the Lucknow Super Giants bowlers in the Eliminator and he especially targeted the spinners. He smashed back-to-back boundaries to Krunal Pandya in the 6th over and in the 16th over he destroyed Ravi Bishnoi by smashing back-to-back fours and sixes.

Rajat Patidar reached his century milestone off 49 balls in style by smashing a brilliant six to left-arm pacer Mohsin Khan in the 18th over. Also, with his sensational century, he became the first-ever uncapped Indian in the history of the Indian Premier League playoffs to smash a century.

Patidar’s innings ended at 112 * runs off 54 balls, including 12 brilliant fours and 7 amazing sixes. Also, he batted with an incredible strike rate of 207.41.
